With both Shakti and Dresden's posts in mind, I thought i'd
add an onlooker's view. I really would not have liked to be
the one that made the decision on Verlaine's fate within
his guild, because I would have found it an extremely
conflicting situation.
I agree to an extent that the church leadership has to operate
in the best interests of the church, and to that end I agree
that it may appear that Verlaine is going against his vows.
However, some would argue that love is transcendant of the
fundamental aspects that make up the world in which we live.
I also highly doubt that due to Verlaine's love for Shakti
that he would start killing innocents, preaching Chaos and
otherwise compromising the beliefs of the church. On the
same token, Shakti isn't going to start preaching the Holy
Codex because of her love for Verlaine.
On the other hand, if such a time arose whereby Verlaine
had to choose sides, his mind would surely be extremely
conflicted. For although I doubt he would support Chaos over
Order, such a situation would prove undeniably messy.
My point is that there are two sides to every coin and two
sides to every arguement. Im not going to speculate on who's
right or wrong, because I think both Shakti and Dresden have
the worthy points. I merely would like to point out my
view, that neither of you are absolutely right or wrong, and
I don't think anyone could prove otherwise with complete
proof and certainty.
