Aldair,
I submit that Molotov's analysis is brilliant and accurate. I ask you to
accept the validity of his argument and grant Verlaine his Paladin
membership again, and Church membership too if he wants it.
Most importantly, let me remind you - and any followers you may have who
agree with your decision, such as Dresden - of the phenomena of
'escalation of commitment'.
This is "the increased commitment to a previous decision in spite of
negative information". It is well known that individuals escalate
commitment to a failing course of action when they want to demonstrate
that their initial decision wasn't wrong and to avoid having to admit
they made a mistake.
It takes more strength to change one's mind in the face of the public
than it shows to stick with an incorrect decision.
Lastly, let me say that Shakti is an excellent person and her alignment
to Chaos should not be confused with an alignment to Evil. Shakti is
honorable and true to her word, and has sought to help others before
herself many a time.
