Confusion

I am quite puzzled by some things here. For one, I am confused why gods
such as Yourself seem to imply that an act of mere mortals could summon
a force that can destroy all of this piece of the realms. I am also
confused as to why it is insinuated that the Church's stance on Chaos
serves a useful, achievable purpose. I am also confused why anyone would
consider the threat of Chaos destroying this bit of the realms as You
imply (or whatever it may do in the case that is not the whole story
entirely as I strongly suspect is the case) as something to be feared
since whatever effects Chaos will have, be they good or destructive, are
of course inevitable. And I am confused by Your response to the
timequake.

It is clear that Chaos once threatened the small part of this realm the
mortals reside in. But that was long long ago, before most people of
this time were born. Times change. Empirical evidence seems to indicate
to me that this threat is not so threatening anymore. Recall that which
was once true is not necessarily true now nor in the future as the laws
of temporal logic dictate. One only has to look at the Unnameable and
Servelan, yet again. The Chaos any other mortal has released is only a
tiny fraction of the power that Servelan released. It seems clear that
the ability for any mortal to do something that surpasses that about
nil. So that can be used as a base line. Note that this force is known
to be one of the more stronger known energies of Chaos ever known in
this realm, only rivaled by that which entered the realms of its own
free will with no intervention from this world during the Chaos Wars.
And yet one mere little mortal was able to contain it. Anything that one
piddly mortal can contain is certainly no threat to our existence.

Secondly, one only has to look at the Chaos Wars. It is quite clear
Chaos with the power to destroy on such a large scale as the example You
seek can come through of its own will as happened in those days, that
something that large is able to enter when the gods allow it or are too
feeble to prevent it. And something that strong would not be assailable
by mortals as is being implied by these Church statements. Therefore,
the idea that the Church could either prevent such an occurrence or even
have anything to do with its departure seems rather absurd. Perhaps the
focus in these discussions should be on Chaos that can be brought about
or prevented by mortals instead of that which only gods can influence.

Thirdly, whether or not Chaos would destroy this small piece of the
realms entirely is irrelevant since entropy is forcing all energy and
matter into a greater state of Chaos as time passes, a fact Eris
verified for me recently upon my inquiry. So unless someone can reverse
the flow of time then whatever Chaos will do to this piece of the realm
is fated to be. Thus those, such as the Church, who fight it are
fighting against the way things are meant to be. Perhaps Chronos/Aeon
should patron the church, not Pentharian, heh heh. (And that's meant to
be a joke; there's a Jester inside all of us.) Clearly it is honorable
that people such as the Occultists struggle to push things towards what
they are meant to be even if some of them are not perfect at what they
do, to accept that which can not be avoided instead of struggling in
vain to seek an unnatural world. This is just more evidence that the
Church's goals in regards to Chaos are pointless, that they would be
better suited on focusing their goals on something more meaningful.

Finally, on a side note which You bring up, I am puzzled why You blame
Eris for the timequake results, which were very likely accidental
(perhaps Eris can shed some light on that?) when in fact Kasmarkin
allowed Sh'Fah to enter this realm, a being whom I have personally
summoned in Your honor, a being who still sings Your praises and honors
You above all else. It is sad that You do not give thanks to Eris for
bringing into this realm a way for this being to pay You homage. It also
brought us the Jesters and all the laughter and merriment that pours
forth from them. (And on a minor note gave the benevolant Magi a new
source of pearls.) To blame Eris for Taug is to blame Eris for bringing
You one of Your most devoted worshipers to this land and to blame Eris
for bringing more laughter and merriment to this land. Do You stand
against merriment and against any who worship you above all else, or is
that Church policy? This response is quite confusing to me. But then
again, confusion is a cornerstone of Chaos, and perhaps this confusion
You spread is a sign of the entropy growing every day.

Also, to those who was asking about good and evil and Chaos, you may
find this bit of historical text useful from when Eris was young. Chaos
is easily defined:

"All statements about Chaos, including this one, are true in some sense,
false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some
sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some
sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense." -Eris.
