Your Herb Ban

My dearest Covenant,

I do not come to post this day to refute your claims of injustice, nor
do I come to you to complain about your senseless little attempt at an
herb ban. I come only to relay the facts as I know them, so that those
in the realms whom may not be fully aware of the situation, might
understand why it is that the citizenship of Ashtan stands aghast at the
actions of one Guild Master, actions that not only seem beyond rash, but
borderline tyrannical.

It is a fact that Omny, a rather inactive citizen of Ashtan, is guilty
of thievery. He decided it might amuse himself to try his hand at such a
trade, and so chose 3 relatively helpless victims to test his plot out
on. I myself am personally opposed to thievery in any kind, but being
that Ashtan is the city of the free, and non-citizens are generally not
protected by the laws of the city, there was little way to punish Omny.

Despite his offering to return all stolen items to the Sentinels whom
were robbed, it is a fact that Covenant stated he did not wish
reparations to be made, nor did he wish to have the thieved items
returned. He simply wished for Ashtan to Make Omny stop.

That being said, I must ask Covenant, who are you to say that Omny has
not already been punished? The boy has not entered the realms now for
several months since your cry of injustice and your attempted herb ban.
Of course, you would not be one to know whether or not Ashtan has taken
action to reprimand Omny because not oncenot one single solitary time
did you attempt to even contact the Overseer of Ashtan in this matter.

Instead of using the proper channels and contacting the city leader of
Ashtan when you found that an Archon could not assist you in a manner
you found satisfactory, you did not choose to even lift a finger in
contacting me. If I recall the situation correctly, it was I whom
contacted you to glean information on the situation and your motivation
for demanding this herb ban.

Of course you, instead of explaining yourself, decided to point fingers
at the exterminators. Much of the realms know that exterminations have
not occurred for decades, and that the main offenders in that case were
Infernals. Again, much of the realms are also quite aware that the
Infernals are in the midst of an exodus from Ashtan, and thus your
argument for an herb ban is an ancient and outdated one.

Nae, you did not truly seek reparations in this situation. Even when I
pointed out a law that would afford any Sentinel in the realms the full
protection of Ashtan law during their visit to the city, you claimed I
was asking you to tell your guild mates to lie. This was not the case,
and I did point out that the law was enacted explicitly to protect you
and yours, and yet this was still not enough.

Covenant, you may have your herb ban. You may sit there and cry out
against the injustice that occurred in Ashtan, but I must ask this of
you. If a city enacts a law simply to protect your guildyes, your guild,
the Sentinels, and you being the Guild master fail to inform the members
of your guild of the fashion in which this law was intended to protect
your own, are you not the one who has been unjust in failing to protect
those you claim to lead?

Don't bother responding to this, as you and I have already spoken on the
matter. Your blatant statement that Sentinels are not sly at all made it
quite clear to me that there is no point in discussing this matter with
you. You are far to thick to ever see what was given to you and far to
bitter to ever admit you were wrong.
