But, especially the "New Leadership" of Shallam

You ask how much a trip down the halls of Sarapis is worth. How much is
it worth to you? What price do you put on the emotional and physical
trauma caused by dying? What price do you put on seeing your friends and
family die? Is it not as traumatic, if not moreso, to watch someone you
care about die and be helpless to stop it?
In the city of Hashan, the fine for the crime of murder has been set at
5000 gold sovereigns. A small price, in my opinion, for such a heinous
crime. There is also the matter of arson, as the entire city was set
afire and had to be put out one room at a time.
And what of the dead that we were unable to remove from our streets? The
ones who were stuck in place and too hot to pick up? I've taken the
liberty of making a list, to establish just HOW heinous this crime was,
and you tell me if you think 50,000 gold is a reasonable offer.
Ssathis-Guild tutor of the Serpentlords.
Kai-shen-Guild tutor of the Kharon.
Eloeth-Guild tutor of the Sorcerers.
Tithian-Guild tutor of the Shamans.
Damaris-City tutor and resident historian.
Crazy Tom-The beggar in the old quarter.
Colen-The shady man in the bar.
Kes-The roulette attendant.
Geld-The barkeep
Moneo-The blackjack dealer.
Liirup-Our resident pest control.
Kaethryn-The entertainment committee.
Demius-The baker.
Maryll-Demi's wife.
Jambiya-The butcher.
Modron-The blacksmith.
Lawrence, Thyler and Marn-Our 3 court constables.
Alariel-The keeper of the menagerie.
Sybil-The dog lady of Hashan.
Silius-A grumpy old man.
Martha-Silius' wife.
4 humgii-sanitation committee.
6 dogs-Sybil's companions.
This list of 33 individuals doesn't even include those of us who were
able to pray to Sarapis. At the rate of 5000 gold sovereigns, per
person, your offer is less than acceptable.
When you add to this list, the names of those who were able to pray to
Sarapis for salvation, you end up with a rather large list of people.
I'm not positive of the exact number at this moment. I was one of the
ones who went fairly early, and don't have an accurate list, but rest
assured, an accurate list does exist. I will, instead, list for you the
ones I am positive died in the firestorm.
Keyth, Dracnor. Acadia, Arcos, Odessa, Rall, Accipiter, Fempu, Lothair,
Gouki, Grellek, Ciries, Nite, Chammilla, Valrorn, Aspin, Vishnu, Caleth,
Gork, Geemel, Cetus, Grendel, Kryvar, Kronos, Calla, Yang, Vand, Lucas,
Angelina, Jhereg, Kadiya, Juniper, Tekk, Kait, Louis, Jadiax, Sun,
Malaclypse.
Many of these people died more than once, and many of them were forced
to watch their children and spouses die. Just how much does it cost each
of us to see our daughter or son burned alive? It's an image that I'll
never, no matter how many years I live, remove from my memory. It's an
image that still haunts me to this day. What price do I put on that? You
tell me. I've grown weary of this game Shallam plays of being the victim
in this. From my recollection, Shallam's leadership VOTED to do this.
What price do we put on that sort of cruelty?
Am I angry? You're damned right I'm angry. With a list of names like
this, you can't tell me you wouldn't be angry. And as far as your
"demands" from Hashan go, we've made no demands. The price for these
deaths alone, at the rate of 5000 gold per death is well over 350,000.
The fines set for those who were present at the opening of the box, and
deemed accessories, were set at 100,000 gold each. I'd say we were more
than reasonable.
