My challenge to your Church.

Isn't it about time that your organization had some sort of catharsis? You say that you want to bring about a new era in the Church and in sapience, so here is my idea/challenge to you and your fellow church members.
If you really are an organization of ideals- remove the threat of excommunication from your members. Why? Because this will separate those who are members of the Church who are there only for the power to fight with your abilities from those who truly believe in your ideals.
It has been said that the only people who believe in the righteousness of the Church are those who are in it. Things like a very physical punishment for leaving put into question that you really are an organization of higher ideals. Do this, and it will be nearly uncontestible that you are what you say you are. You may gain even more members in the long run. I suspect that it would mean losing many people at first and I do not think that you and yours will do it because you fear that. I suspect that you lack the courage.
As an added incentive, small as it is, there is one last aspect to my challenge. If you do actually do this, and less than five people leave you, I will turn my sword in to the Archprelate and never oppose your Church through violent means again. I will not reform the "Legion of the Damned" which has caused you so many problems in the past. Perhaps more than that, you will have gained respect.
Do you need the respect of those outside of your own?
Zero.
