Greetings Lord Apollyon,
While this scribing will be most read by Your esteemed followers, I do
hope that it deserves Your attention as well. For the sake of my fellow
mortals I shall begin this missive with a brief history lesson.
Decades ago when the world had been less traveled I was but a young man
in service to Mhaldor, the Maldaathi, and Lord Sartan. Years passed as I
progressed in service to Evil and during this time I witnessed the most
productive period of my life. At a later point in my life You were split
from the Horned One, Lord Shaitan. It was at this point my bond to Evil
changed. It was no longer just a single entity, and for a short time
seemed, within me, divided as well.
As many will remember this separation eventually led to me entering into
Your chosen, but the theology was still more then I could understand at
the time. Thus my fate was chosen long before I accepted it. I had sworn
to serve Lord Sartan, and although I knew the Splitting to be a true act
I still felt somewhat different. I renounced my place, shamed my family,
and tarnished the reputation of he who was once a proud Lord of the
Maldaathi.
At one point in my life I was bound to You by Your Will, having suffered
a curse from which I could only be cured by accepting my place. From
that I was 'purified' by Lady Sol, Her Light infused within me to undo
Your will.
I have since learned that although the Gods can choose Their servants,
it is not for a mortal soul to feel Divine touch. It is not by Your will
that I now serve, but by my own free will.
All things come full circle and as it was in the beginning, it is once
more. As a final note to Your mortal followers: Know that there is no
task you can set before me too daunting, no path too long; I find my
strength in Evil and you shall not break my faith.
