A Response

Hail Sir Rangor,

Many thanks for your post (difficult as it was to follow the tone as it
darted from bravado to retreat), and for the constructive, civil
conversation we had following it. Courtesy, even among one's enemies, is
a thing to be treasured.

I am grateful also for your offers to stand aside from the battlefield,
if Mhaldor in turn does the same, and for your offer to cease the
defence of Shallam. (My congratulations, incidentally, in maintaining
your allyship with the Jewel, despite your frankly prolific slaughter of
'innocent' blood. I suppose desperation and principle make uneasy
bedfellows in the East).

Regrettably, things have progressed I believe, beyond a simple
undertaking not to oppose the will of Evil, and to forswear the
battlefield. You have too much Mhaldorian blood on your hands for that.
If you wish the hounds to be called off, recompense must be made. I
understand you are a proud man, Rangor. I understand pride; but
sometimes we must set aside our pride for the good of the organisations
and causes we serve. There is still time, Corten, to make recompense.
But if that is the path you take, take it quickly.

Again, I speak to the Eleusians, to the Sentinels. This Corten, and
others like him, hinder your work. If not for them, there would be no
cause to bring violence to your home; to distract you from your vital
work - the protection of Nature. Rangor cares only that he may act as he
pleases; you are a convenient home for him while he indulges his selfish
desires. I encourage you to no longer stand idly by as he abuses your
hospitality and brings down ceaseless violence on your heads, violence
you did not ask for.

Again, I stress that I speak only for myself, and certain other servants
of Evil who have concluded that enough is enough; that action must be
taken. I beg of you again, do not risk the anger of the city entire.
Mhaldor roused is a fearsome thing.

Regards,
Tenebrus Ninefingers.
