Jaizsur Ta'sa - salutations:
I shall endeavour to move towards greater brevity.
We accept that your races call Sapience home, though some
came here, as we do, from elsewhere.
We accept that some felt threatened by our arrival.
We accept that some might kill when feeling threatened,
though we, as you, do not condone this.
Can we accept the principles your people have held for
thousands of years? Depends on which they are. Is it
"fear drives life?" A great deal more drives life than
fear.
We demanded that cities throw out murderers. Yes, that
was demanding. Apparently it was not unusual either.
The Therans demanded reparations/compensation before
allying with Ashtan, treating Ashtan as responsible
for the acts of ALL of its citizens, and Ashtan accepting
that responsibility and responding in kind.
Would casting out the culprits have solved anything?
It would have proved to us that Ashtan as a whole was
not behind the attacks. The exchange between Ashtan and
Thera obviously 'solved [some]thing' since it was agreed
upon by both, who then allied.
Thera's destruction: Achaeans do in fact annihilate the
Vertani 'way of life.' Or, rather, Achaeans annihilate us,
so that we never live again.
Our regrettable attack on Thera, for which I have offered
repeated apologies, may have changed the landscape, and
removed some buildings. Some adventurers survived our
attack, and some (not all) Theran residents did not.
War: Yes, let's end the war. We're willing.
Penned by my hand on the 4th of Aeguary, in the year 386 AF.
