Denizen Liberation Front

First a story.

A few months ago, I was traveling to Ulangi with my fiance Detho. The
rowboat was going quite slow, so Detho exclaimed to Gareth, the
ferryman, "MUSH!!" Shockingly, Gareth responded, and he was quite
insulted at how trivial Detho was making his job. Soon afterwards, we
spoke a little about things, and I asked Gareth a favor. I asked him to
send something personal of mine out into the seas on his next journey,
and Gareth promised he would do so. Is this not sentience, my friends?
Is this not conscious thought processing?

One more example. The Locksmith in Hashan. I said several rude things to
him, because I, as the more important being, was not happy with how
things were going. You know what happened? I hurt his feelings. So
badly, in fact, that he closed his shop, and disrupted Hashan's CT
because I was so disrespectful to him. He almost left the city, until I
issued a formal apology. Is this indifference, my friends? Is this a
lifeless body for you to slaughter?

Think about the impact of words on these two rather random Denizens. Now
think about a Stormhammer burning an Ulangi Grook child, or Bleed
sucking Carmina dry. Does this affect that child? That WIFE? It's quite
obvious through all this mayhem, there is a point trying to be made.
Denizens feel. They love, they hurt, they cry, they piss.

Hunting is a part of life, Kaiya is quite correct. But instead of
mindlessly slaying Allea next time, take a second to realize you are
killing a person, not a thing. The denounced priest in Ulangi is one of
the saddest persons I have met. His whole existence looks forward to
death, and once he perishes, he thanks his murderer. This is not some
contrived emotion or response, this is how that priest feels.

Hingar,

In the process of whatever your are trying to do, you have opened my
eyes to something that needs to be brought to everyone's attention. But
you yourself blatantly disregard the value of the lives of the Ashtani,
the Mhaldorians, and everyone else!

And Genocide? Do you not realize how the cycle of life works here on
Sapience? The Logos has blessed us all, including the rats in the
sewers, with life reborn. Each time we die, we learn, and we are
humbled. And we are placed back upon the earth to complete our journies.
Denizens are not any different. I've killed plenty of Denizens, but I'll
return in a few days, and there they are again, unharmed, and alive.

This, Hingar, is -not- genocide. Genocide is slaying Guild novices of a
city that you haven't gotten your way with. The novices have little to
no say in a cities decision, yet you punished them. That. Is. Genocide.

Allo.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Miraman, in the year 382 AF.
