I speak to you, though an Ashtani, as one who sees hope for the people
of Sapience and the Vertani. However, I must regretfully inform you that
of the two who attacked El'Jazira, Xtassy, if I am correctly informed,
is now attempting to join Mhaldor, and dear Szanthax, though a mighty
warrior, of surpassing power, is a bit mad.

Without doubt your society does not wish to base its opinions of the
city on one who has left to join another city, and that of a poor,
mentally ill, if very capable warrior. I would enjoy it greatly if the
Vertani were to reconsider their stance with Ashtan. Though we cannot
stop him from slaying El'Jazirans, the Ashtani do not make it a policy
to cast their mentally ill out into the streets, devoid of citizenship.
It is our concern for our own safety that has motivated us. We are
concerned that you intend to harm the City of Ashtan for reasons other
than because you were attacked by a defector, and a madman.

I do indeed hope that you will carefully consider this now that you have
new light on the situation.
