Skylord Vastar

There are still those who remember the Skylord, and those who still
follow His teachings. The Skylord taught that everyone should be free to
express their own opinions, to follow their own goals. This means that
the people of Sapience should be free to slaughter the Vertani if that
is their wish. It also means that the Vertani should be free to
slaughter us in response. It also means that we Sapients and the Vertani
should be free to make peace, if that is what we wish.
Skylord Vastar is also the God of Purpose, of Goals. Freedom should
exist so we can achieve those goals - not so we can live in anarchy and
chaos. What is the goal of attacking the Vertani? Keeping them out of
our land? Attacking them has caused them to attack us in response,
bringing even more troops with them through their Portal. To act without
considering the consequences is not expressing freedom, it is expressing
selfishness and shortsightedness. If someone wants to claim they own all
of Jaru, rape and murder its residents, they are free to do so, but what
purpose does this serve? What is the goal of such an act? Annoy Shallam?
Quite a pathetic and petty goal, if you ask me.
I have seen much shortsightedness, much action without purpose, in the
33 or so years I've lived in this world. I implore you all, all of you
who laud 'freedom' as the reason for your actions: listen to the wind,
choose a goal close to your heart, and walk towards it. Don't feel
confined to that path - there are many ways to read one's goal. The wind
changes, and so may your goal - do not be afraid to look about while you
walk. Wandering aimlessly is not the path of the Free, it is the path of
the Lost.
