The following is the inscription found on the gates of Ashtan verbatim:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ A gift from the citizens of Ashtan to its future generations, ~
~ these gates stand in memory of all those who have ever rebelled ~
~ against their oppressors, fought for their freedom against ~
~ overwhelming odds, battled utter devastation from all sides ~
~ and won. ~
~ ~
~ May they always stand open to the blessed winds of change. ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyone visiting the Bastion may see it for themselves. It is written in
almost every language in Sapience so as not to discriminate.
Hopefully this tidbit that many don't seem to notice will serve to
elevate the current discussion on Ashtan's definition of 'Freedom.'
Happy debating,
Paine Saer'rac
P.S. The realm of Vastar, Lord of the Skies overlaps in many ways with
the realm of Freedom. I suggest visiting His temple in the Vashnars and
reading the journal since very few of His followers remain.
Penned by my hand on the 5th of Daedalan, in the year 382 AF.
