Cyrene

To the citizens of Cyrene,

As the mortal voice of my Father, Twilight Trismegistus, I come before
you today. Long has the Order of Darkness been discriminated against by
those who reside in the southern half of Sapience. The reasons for this
are varied and I won't speculate as their origins. Predjudices tend to
be very old and run very deep, I can accept that. However, the time has
come for change. One of the bastions of civilization of the South,
Cyrene has denied citizenship to those of the Dark Order. The time for
this has come to pass. No longer are We the Order that gave birth to
those prejudices. Our scope has changed, and with that I believe it is
time you reconsidered what some would consider draconian rules.

Darkness is at its heart the pursuit of the understanding of Self and
through it the understanding of the Universe. Darkness does not have
what one would call an alignment, it is up to the interpretation of the
mortal. In fact, Darkness is nothing more than a constant. The
understanding of Darkness is different for each mortal who follows it.
As such, the Order could house within it people who follow the Path that
leads them to Goodness and they could live within a good society and
benefit the society a great deal. However, this is only possible if the
Good society is truly accepting of those who seek to live a Good life.
Can there not be those who believe in the Goodness yet believe in War or
Darkness or even Chaos? All three of these religions place very few
restrictions on their members except to seek to improve themselves. Is
that counterproductive to Good? I'd hope not. In fact I'd hope that
you'd welcome someone who sought to improve themselves and wished to do
it in a manner you agreed with. One would think that so long as they
upheld the virtues of your fair city, they would be welcome as citizens,
regardless of religion.

What I am stating is this, the Order of Darkness stands with the Orders
of War and Chaos in requesting citizenship be allowed to its members. We
are not strong in military might, but I firmly believe that the power of
a few people in touch with the Universe and the Self are a force more
formidable than the assembled hosts of Shallam. We await your response.
