Of course I did.
How stupid could I be?

We met up, on the northern road,
I smiled shyly and shuffled nervously.
You surprised me with the warmth you showed,
On that cold Mayan day.

I made a little chit,
You pulled up the end with chat.
I talked a little about this,
And you tied it off with that.

We danced around the obvious,
For quite a bit of time.
Each trying to be oblivious,
And not step out of line.

You were the first to break,
And tell me what you thought.
Of how you weren't a fake
And of how I broke your heart.

I gasped in shock.
How could this be?!
Surely you mock,
How dare you imitate me!

You took my thoughts,
And made them yours.
The confusion you wrought,
So deep, it touched my core.

What could have been,
Between you and I?
I guess we'll never know, then...
But I suppose I will get by.
