A Love Story

Malady
------

Cold and far
A dream entombed
He lies in wordless suffering

Cold and silent
She kneels beside him
Her heart long gone to ice

Cold and grey
So grim the morning
A dawn of death and healing

Cold and terrible
His words, as he tells
His beloved, "I want to die."

Cold and wet
Are her unshed tears
As she gazes on his beauty

Cold and shining
His beautiful dark eyes
That move her frozen heart

Cold and gentle
Her caretaker's hands
That bring about his wish

Cold and cruel
The bindings of love
Against the pain of living

Cold, cold, cold
The tomb they share together
Lying cojoined, love and death entwined.

Penned by my hand on the 1st of Mayan, in the year 403 AF.
