that we but teach bloody instructions

Trusting, I open my mind to new sensations,
and yet the bitter, gritty charcoal -
the taste of death and faded memory
is overwhelming in its disappointment.

Truly, do I have no more to learn?
No, dishonesty becomes me not -
Her gaze piercing my veiled pride -
I can learn what it is to be mortal.

Not death which holds such fear for me
but life, freedom, my lost humanity
and the choice to walk my path astray
or not at all. Wilful disobedience.

To sin so eloquently and with purpose
invites judgement - who else so blind?
I bid you then, mete out your justice
swiftly, 'fore you meet the edge of mine.

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Chronos, in the year 362 AF.
