Once

Once...
I heard a weeping whisper in the windy mist.
I saw a child crying a cathedral corner alone,
his tears staining black upon the stone floor.
Gazing upon the single red rose tenderly cradled,
Softly, he sank down into endless slumber...

Once...
I felt the rain cry a hundred thousand tears
As the Heavens grieved the loss of the child.
The red rose tumbled to the blackened floor
I watched its petals blow away into the mist,
Softly, he sang from that moonless sky of mine...

Penned by my hand on the 19th of Chronos, in the year 362 AF.
