A Lucky Gift

After the sun rose early in the month of Miraman, 485 AF, the
Messenger's voice rang out across the lands, chiding the gamblers of the
world for leaving His blackjack dealers alone and bored. Sensing an
opportunity, Hermes announced, "I think I might just have the cure for
each and every loyal dealer of Mine."

Citizens flocked to their local parlours, laying money on the table in
anticipation of the God of Luck's latest surprise. Starting with His
most loyal servant, Hugo, Hermes travelled to all the blackjack houses
of Sapience and its isles, presenting a gift to each shuffler of cards:
a beautiful deck of playing cards, crafted specially for every dealer to
suit his or her home.

To Hugo of New Thera went a deck of black and gold bearing the Cadeceus
of Hermes, while Ashtan's Dielia received a black and silver deck
starring the majestic Zarathustran Eagle. Next was Merindia in the Heart
of the Vashnars, who was granted a deck with Blu guarding the Clock
Tower upon a background of blue and silver, then Moneo with silver and
gold depictions of the Hashani menagerie. The terrible Leviathan menaced
the red and gold cards gifted to Mhaldor's Danzig, followed by the
shining Chrysalis Basilica on the blue and gold deck for Laura of
Shallam, and finally the Mysian card shark Aneurin accepted the gift of
a brown and silver harbour-inspired deck.

After being presented with these gifts, the dealers quickly set up shop
to pass the blessing along to their customers and within moments most
had been sold to eager prospective card sharks. Satisfied that His
followers' business and entertainment needs were well attended, Hermes
departed for gambles unknown.

Penned by My hand on the 13th of Ero, in the year 485 AF.
