I stand corrected since it is a church thing, thank you Tylin. My point is still the same however, why do you feel the church has the market on devotion? This all sounds to me like its the churches way of oppressing different religions, to keep those not happy with the organization and its ways but happy with their profession from leaving the church and possibly forming a new, better and more open minded organization. One that may not hold prejudices, hatred, and bloodlust against other beliefs that are not their own.

Devotion of ones profession is no less valid then devotion to a organization that apparently wishes to demean and blackmail some of their members in staying with them. If the Church does not or can not keep their members happy and content enough to stay then that is the Churches fault not the persons.

I say to this so called Church of good will and forgiveness, get rid of your blackmailing tactics on your members, get rid of Excommunication and show the world you truly live what you preach. Keeping Excommunication however shall indeed show that the church is the true oppressors of the land.
