23.1 Ships

With a ship, you can navigate the vast oceans surrounding the continent of
Sapience, giving commands to your denizen crew which will result in your ship
being sailed or rowed through the wilderness map interface (see HELP
WILDERNESS).

You can discover and explore islands which can only be reached by
ships. Go deep-sea fishing, dive for treasure, battle with other ships, and
more! Learning the skill of Seafaring (see HELP SEAFARING) further expands your
options.

Harbours may be found all around Sapience and on many of the surrounding
islands. To get started, try:

HARBOUR SHIPS to see what ships are currently docked.
BOARD SHIP <ship name|ship #> to ascend the gangplank!

Type HARBOUR at any harbour to see available commands. Man-made harbours will
have more available commands than natural harbours, such as hiring denizen crew
and purchasing repairs.

To purchase a new ship, you will need to acquire ship commodities
(see HELP SHIPFITTING), then visit a shipyard and COMMISSION <vessel>.

See HELP SHIP TYPES for the different kinds of ships you may commission and
the associated costs.

Ship ownership is an expensive endeavour; you may be able to purchase a ship
from another adventurer, for a reduced cost! Even those who do not own a ship
may still sail the seas as captain or crew in another's fleet.
