Asterian Restoration
An eon ago, the Seleucarian Empire stood as the pinnacle of mortal accomplishment, founded on the dreams of Nicator and the genius of Severian, strengthened by the brilliance of leaders like Catarin deSangre. With the fall of Seleucar and the sundering of Sapience, those who remained on the new continent of Meropis were forced to fight against unimaginable dangers. Thanks to the heroism of warriors such as Davis Kephry and the discovery of a boy named Durande, the descendants of those remnants live on today. However, much of the knowledge gained by the Empire that was has been lost or set aside, irrelevant to the Meropians' everlasting battle for survival. As the stewards of what was once the duchy of Aster Malik, we have taken it upon ourselves to create the first public sanctuary dedicated to the free exchange of ideas on the continent of Meropis since the fall of the Seleucarian Empire. With institutions like the Ingram Cairo Memorial Library and the Theatron Meropian, we form a foundation for the discussion and sharing of ideas away from the boundaries often created by the delineations of citizenship. Despite this, we do not eschew the idea of service to the various mortal and Divine ideals present in the world. We learn from each other as we view the world through the lenses of our differing experiences and identities. The pursuit of scholarly and philosophical excellence should not be limited by ideological borders, and the Asterian Restoration was founded with the goal of offering knowledge to all, regardless of those barriers.
