Dear Fortyr,
Egads, egads, egads, I'm forced to waste another 1,000 gold! Look, your
logic is flawed. In fact, your entire plane of thinking is flawed.
Slaughtering orphans is evil. There are two things that can evil; yes,
the intent, and also the action. If I somehow thought I could help
orphans by slaughtering them, my INTENT would be good, but my ACTIONS
would be insanely evil and despicable, ending the poor lives of those
who have done nothing wrong. By the same respect, if I thought aiding
the Church would somehow HELP evil, my intent would be evil, but my
ACTIONS would be good. Does the intent matter? No. I would have to be a
fool to slaughter orphans to save them, but I would still be evil
because I slaughtered them. If I was a complete idiot and believed
helping the Church would help evil, I myself may be evil, but my actions
in helping the Church would help stop evil, and therefore be good.
Now, this may be hard to understand, but in serving Thoth, you can be
about three things: Good, Evil, and Crazy. If by slaying evil you serve
Thoth, you can be good. If by slaying innocents you serve Thoth, you are
evil. If you don't really care who gets in your way and slaughter
without regard for anything, you are truly insane.
Actions speak more than words. Actions speak more than intent.
I also think you are missing the point. The Orphanage was originally
used to empower Servais so that She could ascend to Eris, Goddess of
Chaos. I don't believe this practice was right. However it may seem to
the followers of Chaos, even if they believe it was right then to help
Eris, now does it really serve a purpose even to them? Eris is a
Goddess, and shall remain so, and to aid her they can now offer to her,
slaughtering innocents won't help. Also, Chaos is said by many in
history to transcend good and evil. If this is so than why would they
pursue in such a thing that gives them no chaotic powers but is so evil?
Yes, Fortyr, Evil is indeed real. If I slaughtered orphans I would be
evil. If I let it happen without even caring I would be at least
passively evil, or to afraid to act.
Fortyr, your actions for helping Thoth are either Evil, or you are
crazy. Evil does exist, for does not Sartan? Light does exist, for does
not Pentharian? Does Evil not commit Evil deeds? Does Light not commit
Righteous deeds? Apparently, you commit both, and so are probably crazy
but are also evil, for even bloodlust against evil is indeed evil
itself.
What we want to do is save the orphans. You say it isn't evil. Do the
orphans? What if they served Thoth and were powerful and sent you
packing to Death? Repeatedly? With nothing you could do? They would be
evil. They are not. They are innocent. What have they done to you?
Apparently you believe by LIVING, they have defied the God of Death,
Thoth. Do you too not defy Thoth? By your logic, if you live, you defy
Thoth. Since you apparently are not dead or even undead, I suggest this:
Keep killing yourself to serve Thoth. Don't kill others that are weaker
than you. Since you are stronger, your essence is worth far more to him.
In confusion at your flawed thoughts,
