Chaos

In the beginning, the Logos created Creation and Chaos. In Creation, the
Logos created the Gods and all the Aldar. He allowed Creation to grow,
and watched as the world in which we live came into being-with many of
our mortal races, elemental concepts, and social structures. Creation
was self-governing and completely capable of handling itself.

Then, Chaos came. The Unnamable Horror, a being of pure Chaos, seeped
into Creation and raped Maya, a Goddess, pure and innocent. This event
was Creation's first witness of Chaos-a despicable, malicious act
without a rational, visible purpose, reason, or any sense of conscience.
Chaos, in the mythologies, has been described as the indescribable, the
unfathomable, and the irrational. From HELP MYTHOLOGY, of the rift in
Creation caused by Chaos:

All that could be seen through the rip were swirling lights and colours
in no discernable pattern. Suddenly, two sections obtained the smallest
sense of order, and immediately separated themselves from their
surroundings. These beings we shall call Entropy and Discord, for they
originate from a place where names have no meaning; where organized
thought is not known and where the mortal mind would be rendered
instantly insane were one unfortunate enough to experience it.

Judgement is lost when sanity is lost. Destruction is wrought when
judgement is lost. Chaos inherently destroys the foundation of all of
Creation-or at least of the plane in which we live. Lord Sarapis has
even been heard stating the dangers of Chaos. From PUBLIC 142:

"It is true that Creation itself will never be threatened by total
destruction. However, it is worth pointing out that the small part of
Creation occupied by mortals very well could be destroyed by Chaos. Do
not make the mistake of thinking yourselves to be the focus of all
reality and do not make the mistake of thinking that I will intervene to
"save" you from whatever fate you bring upon yourselves...

The Gods do not need the Church to battle Chaos. The Gods are safe from
such an onslaught. Mortalkind, and the enemies of Chaos especially, are
always at risk in this nigh-eternal struggle between the primal forces
in Creation."

Chaos will destroy the world as we mortals know it. In its place,
insanity will reign supreme. Sapience is not an asylum. Nor will it ever
be one.
