Greetings, Sapience
I don't often post on this board, and it usually takes a lot to get me
to, especially with the cost of it. Many of those who know me know that
I can be long-winded and hog the soapbox a bit, but in this case, since
so many others tend to do so, I will not. I only have a couple things to
say, and anyone who wishes to comment about what I have to say can talk
to me in person.\
Firstly, Qwilleran - I quote you directly, "For if you wish to join the
Church or a Church guild, then you will be expected to follow higher
standards than the average Achaean. Period." I pose this question...
exactly what is the 'average Achaean'? Each of us has trials and
difficulties we go through, and most of us are members of organizations
(be they Guild, Clan, City or Order) that can and do hold higher
standards for their members, or try to, in order to better the world.
So, in this case, the 'average Achaean', in my view, -is- the one who
follows higher standards.
On related topics, it is my opinion that the Church is being stuffy and
ignorant in this whole thing. Those are my words, not anyone else's. You
may hold by your views and your rules, but everything is subject to
change. Perhaps it's time that the Church, in all it's wisdom and
knowledge, consider a small change in their strict rules. Several of you
have said that you're not alone in restricting members' marraige and/or
relationships, and that Sartan's clans and Order also do so... think on
this. You have compared yourself with your opposites, with the
embodiment of evil. Mayhap that just might be a sign that you need to
change. Mind you, I don't propose to dictate to the Church on what they
will or should do, I merely bring to light some subjects that I think
should be put into thought.
A quick note to Ryvern - I applaud you on your post of love, and agree
with it wholeheartedly. I say to those who wish to slander him, his
fiancee, or any others like them and myself - fear and prejudiceness is
not becoming, and I ask that you try and get to know someone before
attempting to slander them for what they are, not who they are. If you
refuse to attempt so, then just leave it alone. Remember that we all
have friends, no matter who we are... and we protect each other.
