Common Misconceptions of a Jestering Folk

Hello everyone. I really behind in posting this but I am dreadfully lazy
when it comes to posting anything. However quite a few things have been
catching my attention lately, most of them opinions and more than most,
misconceptions surrounding the Jesters.
I would like to start out with Jesters and Eris. It is common
misconception that the Jesters worship Eris and embrace Chaos as thier
religion. I saw this thought laid out in a post a little while back and
that's what really spawned me (no pun intended) to write this post.
The fact is, Eris is our matron only. It was felt that the Guild needed
a more active Patron than Hermes and Eris seemed to be the one Divine
that seemed to fit us best over all the others. However, to understand
the Jesters you must first understand that we are not a collective group
from any one given city or order all with like-minded visions,
aspirations and goals. We are a potluck of INDIVIDUALS all thrown
together with only one thing in common, the love of the Art of
Jestering. There are two things that never come into play as we gather
together within our respected channel and Guildhall, and that's Religion
and Politics. We simply was our hands free of both for so diverse a
group would never be able to agree on either of the two subjects anyway.
Not only is a Jester encouraged to seek out and follow thier own lifes
choices of patronage, but I go out of my way to strongly encourage them
-NOT- to worship Eris or seek to join her order simply because she is
the Guild Matron. And if and only if they actually believe in the ways
of Chaos or Eris, should they consider seeking to join her order. Eris
does not teach to us her tenants of religion and we do not seek her to
worship as our personal patron. In fact out of the entire roster of
Jesters. Only 2 are actually members of her Divine Order.
So no, the vast majority does not worship Eris nor embrace Chaos. Eris
is there for us when we need something for the guild and she very
efficiently provides that service. She is often funny and always has an
ear to listen to our concerns. That is all. She has done more than an
outstanding job for us and I would sincerely love to thank her right
now, for all the quick, efficient work she does for us on a daily basis.
I have heard, of one city thinking of revoking citizenship to any member
of the Jester class simply because Eris is Guild Matron. This would be
sad for as I cannot see removing a patron who has done nothing but good
things and hard work of our guild because a city happens to disagree
with her religion. Now I've explained Jesters cannot really be looked
and judged upon because of thier guild, but rather should all be taken
into account an individual by individual basis. However if it shall come
to pass, I just have to say that is that own's cities politics and we
shall not get involved in that as we wash our hands free of such things.
But I would like to go on record stating that the Jesters will never
revoke membership based on City or Religious Affliliation.
Now with the bulk of what I wanted to say said, I would like to add this
simple disclaimer that since the Jesters are a guild unlike any other
guild in terms of our unique individuality, cultures, cities and
beliefs, the group is too diverse for the guild as a whole to be held
accountable for them. All guild members are made aware that consequenses
may come from thier actions and so, if any group has problems with a few
guild members, they in no way reflect the actions of the Guild as a
whole and you are free to handle them as you will, as individuals doing
individual actions for themselves. I find it disheartening when a group
wants to blame an entire guild who's members have very few things in
common for the actions of 1 or 2 people that are individuals until
themselves and do not follow the philiosophies of any other given guild
member.
I hope that this in turn elimates the massive amount of tells and
messages that I recieve a day stating so and so has a puppet of me,
please make him give it back. I refuse to tell my members that they are
not allowed to learn in or use one of thier entire skillsets. Jesters
realize that when they make puppets without concent, that they become
targets for as long as they hold the puppet. So if you have this
problem, I suggest killing the one who made the puppet to destroy it or
steal it back. If they attack you without reason, well that's one of the
things our issue system and PK laws are for.
Finally for my last point, that of Theft. Since the divine do not punish
or discourage it, neither shall I. Besides there are plenty of ways to
avoid theft. Deafness, Selfishness, Banks. Take the necessary steps
needed to keep from becoming a victim. That responsibility is up to you.
For those who have made it this far down my post, I thank you for your
time and patience in reading this and I hope I have enlightened at least
some as to the true nature of our school of unique and unlike-minded
individuals.
