Farewell, Ashtan

For more than 88 years, I have served you well as a law-abiding and
hardworking citizen. I am proud still this day to say that I have never
let you down even one bit, except perhaps in my own choice of religion.

I still remember vividly that day, the day I became a citizen. Nimos
found me on the fig tree in Epicurus' Garden, just when I was still
waking up from my years of hibernation, Mordyval welcomed me back with
his strange demand for my death and my heart, For that, Nimos offered me
citizenship and protection. Ever since, I have stayed and stuck with
Ashtan.

Some may call me loser over this. Indeed, I am willing to lose
everything I have gained for myself in Ashtan over the years -- rank,
privileges and positions. I can afford to lose all this, since I know
where my true strength lies.

Some of you have shown me true friendship and support in my hardest
times, even when I was about to face a trial. For that, I am grateful.
Even if we are to become enemies someday, you will still have my
respect.

I owe you nothing, Ashtan. Rather, I have given and contributed a lot,
perhaps too much. I need to start living for myself, not for others
anymore.

The choice has been made and Mhaldor will be my new home, where I may
feel free to pursue a greater greatness in following the 7 Truths of
Lord Sartan.

Mistral

Penned by my hand on the 17th of Sarapin, in the year 304 AF.
