The Church and Chaos

Ever since My Reawakening several years ago, I had often politely
inquired of the Church to make public its current policies regarding its
stance on Chaos. As many matters have since taken precedence, namely
re-identifying the roots of esoteric Chaos with its philosophy of
creativity, individuality, evolution, and humour (not to mention My
battles with Evil), I had let slide My modest request of the Church. But
now, suddenly, I had found hostile action taken directly against Me by
the Church's Basilica. Somewhat dumbfounded, I again pursued what I had
thought a reasonable request that the Church state its policies
regarding Chaos. To this end, Aldair thoughtfully granted Me an audience
to discuss the matter. After several unsatisfying dogmatic answers to My
inquiries, I invited Pentharian to join us and he too gave short shrift
to My request, informing Me that everyone knew the Church's policies or
could easily find out (by apparently navigating through a hostilely
totemed Basilica and finding some dusty tomes that "would tell all").
Somewhat astonished, I asked if Pentharian was asking Me that, since the
Church no longer provided public clarifications on its positions even at
the request of a divinity, I could publicly state the Church's position
as given to Me. Pentharian cryptically responded that it would be
"amusing".

Therefore, at Pentharian's and I assume the Church's urging, I will
state the Church's position on Chaos as perceived by Me through My
interviews with Church members. Usually, the answers of why the Church
is "against" Chaos ranges from simply restating "well, we are against
Chaos" (Aldair) to the more erudite answer that Chaos is a "no-no"
(Dresden). Upon digging deeper, I received the answer that Chaos was
when "people wholeheartedly run about doing what they want when they
want, [and] they tend to not notice those trampled along the way" or
that somehow Chaos is "against order" and the Church is "for order".
Needless to say, I was saddened by those statement as those who have
observed My teachings and deeds know that Chaos (capitalized) embraces
order (indeed, one of the five levels of the Sacred Chao is devoted to
honoring order), and certainly equating those that follow Chaos (again
capitalized) to that of encouraging that innocents get "trampled along
the way" in order to "run about doing what they want" is furthest from
the ideals of My teachings to cultivate one's own inner creativity and
individuality.

I leave it to the thoughtful reader to discern these "clear" policies of
the Church as they relate to Chaos. For Myself, I find them confusing
and unfocused at best and woefully dogmatic at worse. I assume this will
receive no response from the Church as Aldair simply refuses to state
the Church's policies as she does not wish "to clutter up the public
boards with a post on something that is already well known". Still, with
due respect, I continue to find the Church, once proud of making its
philosophies publicly known, now reduced to thoughtlessly spouting
dogmatic doctrines without looking at what Chaos, ever changing,
currently is.

I am Chaos. I am the substance from which your artists and scientists
build rhythms. I am the spirit with which your children and clowns laugh
in happy anarchy. I am Chaos. I am alive, and I tell you that you are
free.
