Silvestri

Perhaps the large gaps in Silvestri's memory can be attributed to the
disorientation he speaks of in being transported to our time. Perhaps
the oddly homicidal tendencies he has displayed - which I'm sure many
Achaeans who have had the pleasure of making his acquaintance can attest
to - can also be blamed on the same. I sincerely hope that wherever his
journeys take him, that he may find a cure for his mental ills.
One of sound mind, of course, would recall that we had merely asked for
a civil discussion regarding a pact between our guilds on the art of
Tarot. While it may be true that the Carnivalis family originated this
arcane art, it is we Occultists who have safeguarded, expanded and
perfected the knowledge throughout generations, over centuries. While
some knowledge has indeed leaked out, the Occultists have been
successful at keeping the majority of its secrets concealed from public
view, and thus greater in power.
Our conversation proceeded quite cordially, with myself and Mephisto
even offering an alliance with the Occultists. Then, Silvestri pulled
out what seemed a harmless child's toy, wound it up, and proceeded to
attepmt to murder me with it. An attempt at which he would have been
quite successful, had the Occultists not learned the secret to caging
our souls against death.
Then it was through the powers of the Major Arcana, of which in this
time we are the masters, that my guildmates and I subdued him. And he
continued with his insults and his blatant lies, claiming even to have
never attacked me. Silvestri earned his death, and I do not regret
having paid it.
We do however regret any ensuing alienation between the Jesters guild
and the Occultists. We hold no grudges against the new Jesters, many of
whom are old friends, citymates and ex-guildmates. We hope that the oath
of secrecy will bind the two guilds of Tarot closer together. That in
the dual path of this ancient art, its power might grow stronger in
secret.

Postscript. "Dear" Dresden, your attempt to outline your feeble
knowledge of the uses of some of the Major Arcana are perhaps amusing at
best. Your attempt to look important by shoving yourself into a
situation of which you have no knowledge and no concern is tiresome.
