Dearest Demiurge,
This year you have enacted something which I thought beyond even most
people to consider. You kidnapped the person who's very family created
the skill and taught it to your forefathers, and vowed him to silence
under torture.
Now, for you this may be well and good, and even if Silvestri has vowed
for this, I know many have not.
During many years of life, I have learned a great deal of the Tarot
skills. I have even learned of Domination on my trips to the Chaos
Plane, where I did slay one or two of the Creations there.
However, since the Occultists have decided to enact such atrocious
actions against a single person, not even by accident but by sheer
intent and knowledge of what you were doing, I felt like sharing my
knowledge with the world.
Tarot, an ability which uses cards inscribed with colourful pictures to
bring forth mystical abilities. The Occultist, or now even Jesters, must
take time to inscribe each card. It is kept in a deck, where they store
many tarot cards. The ability of Tarot is short, but effective.
The Sun Tarot is a rarely used card, yet it creates a ball of light
which follows the user around. I've seen it used by Monkey, in early
years. Amusing, at best.
The Emperor card, I suppose the Jesters originally created this card as
a vision of Nicator, however it grants the Tarot user the ability to
force a victim to follow him or her.
The Priestess card, now this is truly something I have seen. I even
recall Omny using it once while I was fighting one of his friends. This
card is used to heal the health of a person.
The Fool, perhaps a design in fashion of the Carnivalis family. This
card heals afflictions. Not used too often though.
The design of the chariot. This card is probably the source of most
questions of our younger population. Those demonic goats and charred
chariots which lurk about roads and cities, are the result of this card.
The Hermit Tarot. One of our dear Demiurge's favourite cards, I believe.
Using this, teleports the tarot user away and back to a predetermined
location.
The Empress Tarot. The second half of the lust combo, this Tarot summons
people to you. They generally require a lust first, though I hear if
you're in the local area, you can ally the tarot user and it will work
the same.
Lovers Tarot. Perhaps in rememberance of Sinope and Callisto, this Tarot
when used, causes the victim to fall hopelessly in love. (Cured by the
common bellwort plant). The tarot user cannot be harmed by his or her
victim if she enacts this card.
The hanging man. One of my favourites. This card causes a victim to be
tangled in large ropes. Difficult to manuver through.
Hm. The tower card. My notes are dusty, but Napoloen used this card on
me in one of our fights. Causes a tower to appear. It becomes the source
of the rubble that you have to climb over occasionally.
Lust Tarot. This card is annoying, but as stated earlier, used in
conjunction with Empress. If you are lusted by a Tarot user, they can
then empress you from anywhere on Sapience. Quite handy, even if it is
annoying.
Death. I believe this is the easily noticable tarot card. They are often
seen sniffing this card when using it. It takes a number of rubs before
they can enact it, so watch out for this one. It can be the Occultist's
way to kill the unsuspecting.
Devil, another favourite of the Demiurge. I often see Shakti fling this
card and a small devil rise up, saying to serve only once. It seems to
allow the Occultist to fling two tarot cards simultaneously.
Aeon tarot. It probably holds a picture of Lord Aeon on the portrait, as
this card causes your movements through time to become sluggish and
slowed.
Justice tarot. A picture of Lady Miramar probably resides on this card,
as your own attack deals damage to you. They call this a form of
justice.
That, Ladies and Gentlemen, is a brief lesson of the skills of the
mystical tarot card. Not all have been included, I'm sure. Some by my
own omission, others by the lack of seeing them and recalling their
existance.
I am sure if you ask the elders in your respective guilds how to combat
these card throwing abilities, you will learn a great deal of the
abilities Occultists try to keep secret, by torturing people.
Blessed be, Shakti, and Sapience.
