It's all fun and games...

It's all fun and games 'til someone gets their eye poked out.
For some odd reason, this quote began dancing through the meadow of my
mind, like some damned elusive butterfly with trans avoidance. At first,
I thought it was just a mad thought, a sign of stress from the past year
of my life. And then, it suddenly made a lot of sense...so simple the
quote, yet so full of wisdom.
It is all fun and games, good times and mirth until someone's rights are
violated. Then it ceases to be fun and games and begins to be a drag or
even a stress. Now there are several things to consider here (more I'm
sure, but this comes to mind now) :
Firstly, were you playing the "Who Can Poke the Other's Eye Out First
Game"? If so, then my following points are un-points. Meaningless jabber
from the mouth of a very tired flower. If that was -not- the game that
was being played, then did the Agressor -intend- to cause damage to the
Victim? If so, then the Agressor should be put in time out and
restitution made. If not, then restitution should be made and laws
upheld with mercy to the offender.
Secondly, why are we all living on Sapience? To have fun and play games!
Some of us play evil games, some good, some of us play Landmarks, some
play Interview the 1000 Druid Novices in Record Time, some of us play
Sorcerer or Magi, some play with dolls and bleed rats, some of us play
RaidoHo and some of us play FFA Kind of the Hill, some of us play house
and some of us play politics, some play shop and some play thief...but
we all play.
How in the Skraaaaaaaaack name of Harpies do those two points tie in
together?
We're not playing the "Poke the Eye out First Game" here. But we are
playing, living, having fun in so many different ways. So when my 'fun'
pokes your eye out, I am in the wrong. When your 'playing' infringes on
my basic rights, you are in the wrong. And not only do you take away
from the victim's enjoyment of life in these realms, you also bring down
the whole of life here, one little action at a time (which is how the
largest of caverns have been formed, by the way).
'But, Violet, I'm eeeeevil! It's what I do!' I can hear the responses
now, ignoring the spirit of my post and looking on the very surface for
some reason to blow this post off. Aye, but you may be evil enough to
make the Devil blush, and still -never- infringe on the basic rights of
those you inflict evil upon, in the sense I am speaking of basic rights.
Think about it. Think long and hard (evil, good, neutral alike) I only
picked out 'evil' in order to answer the most common thought that might
occur in response to my post. Bah, why am I wasting my time?
