Although I understand your frustration, and your wish for a change, I am
nevertheless forced to point out a discrepancy in your reasoning. You
state, quite correctly, that some deities such as the Lady Eris and Lord
Twilight, the Dark Father, are not evil per se. But then you make the
claim that They don't work for 'peace and prosperity'. What you really
should have stated was that they don't work for YOUR peace and
prosperity. The Lady Eris is more than helpful to Ashtan and the Occult,
and from personal experience, I know that Lord Twilight labours very
hard to make certain that those He calls His own prosper and grow. Well,
you might argue, a true Divine that seeks prosperity and peace would do
so for everyone. Unfortunately, that is quite impossible. For example, I
imagine many Shallamites right now are ready to cry that Ashtan is the
Bastion of Evil, that we are working against that very peace and
prosperity, and that all our heads should be piked at NoT. (Not all
Shallamites, but I am fairly certain there are a few). Well, we
Ashtanites tend to rather like our heads where they are. If you have not
noticed, the entire Achaean history is one group struggling against
another for the sake of their own prosperity. The Church and Shallam do
not differ in that respect from Ashtan. (Or Hashan, for that matter). If
you would like the 'neutral destructive' Divinities to work towards
prosperity and peace, then pick up the black cloak of the Occult, don
the black and gold of Ashtan, or embrace the sweet darkness that will
nurture you and give you strength to stand against a thousand enemies.
Everyone deserves a chance at prosperity and peace. But do not mistake
the rights of others to these ideals for their wish to take peace away
from you. There is really very little difference between an Occultist
fighting for essence under the banner of Eris and Aegis and a priest
fighting for devotion under the banner of Pentharian. Both are striving
for peace and prosperity. For themselves. The one who wins is the one
who is able to face their nature - peaceful, chaotic, good, evil, dark
-, and not blame the loss of a battle on the enemy.
This concludes my rare rant.
