Molotov- You are obviously not of the divine level of intelligence. I think this combined with the absence of Aurora and her advice leaves you and any other members of your Order with very little authority to go about flatly telling people what the "truth" is.

Kyasha- Nice statement, but devotion deffinitely is a skillset. I know the argument has been done to death, but can you yourself think of any logical reason why rogue Paladins and priests would not be able to continue using say inspiration and hellsight? There is no reason why a strong faith in Aegis or Sartan could not have similarly inspiring affects as faith in Pentharian or Aurora can. And as for hellsight, devotion is obviously a learned skill and execution of hellsight is a learned skill. Though they may not be of good alignment anymore, arguably those who are not of said alignment are closer to "hell" and should still be able to call upon an ability like that.
Last in my argument that devotion is a learned skill and not some sort of mindset which confers abilities powered by the Church's patron is the fact that those who turn against the Church can use all of their abilities against Church members until such a time as they are excommunicated. If it were really a mindset and not the use of learned skills, the very instant someone lost the mindset their powers would be rendered useless.

Perhaps when the shrines based on Orders come in, assuming that they do, then rogue Church members will be able to use devotion abilities not based on alignment. Until then though I think it's quite obvious that both sides are simply rationalizing what they want.

Zero.
