Odd how it only becomes an issue once you it
affects you.
'Exclude hands'. Why? It is as much a devotional
ability as all the others.
Deliverance is a truly sacred skill, as it implies
an inherent trust in all those who are as equally
devoted to the Church as you. Thus it is the acid
test of one's faith as to how it is used.
If one's faith begins to waver and you choose to
leave the Church, Excommunication is not automatic.
I was a 'rogue' Paladin for years too...
At any time, I could have used the deliverance ability
to deliver Churchmembers into the arms of their foes.
To do so would indicate that I had truly forsworn my
faith, and would result in my excommunication. That
I understood. But nowhere, did I feel 'threatened' by
the potential loss of my 'skills' as you term them.
Devotion is a mindset, not a skillset. You are either
are, or you aren't.
If you aren't truly devoted you can exist in limbo
for quite some time. Once you cross the line however,
and attempt to use your failing devotion against itself,
its death is inevitable.
You chose to forswear your oaths. Try and act like
half the Knight you pretend to be, and accept the
consequences of that decision. Your politics of
convenience in regards to Devotion are pathetic.
If you lose devotion, you lose it. You don't
get to keep a skill here or there because they
aren't 'aggressive'.
