Your only reason has to do with stripping people of their powers if they decide to quit the church and fight against it.

If a Warlock or Magi or Sorcerer is kicked out of their guild for bad reasons, or quits and starts fighting against them, and begin to steal crystals from the master crystal, are they not persecuted? I've seen Jarik or some other warlock person talking before about killing an ex-warlock if they start taking crystals from the Master Crystal. Same Idea...there are skills that can be very harmful if used by an ex-church member against a current church member, and there's no reason we should have to suffer because of that person's actions.
