Your letter seems to be based on the belief that the Church is opposed
to advancement. The Church isn't opposed to power. Quite the opposite.
The Church is opposed to people who either, a) have the potential for
greatness in whatever they do, yet fail to reach that greatness, or b)
have the power and fail to use it for something positive.

Power for power's sake is pointless.
