I obviously cannot speak for the Lord of War, or his Order, but Lord Sartan, and our Order, have never warred simply "for the sake of conflict itself".
The Fifth Rule may state that combat is a means to making us stronger, but neither I, nor anyone else in the Order that I know of, have killed for killing's sake.
And yes, keep your heart and mind open to the Holy Codex for fear that you realise you are living a lie. The Codex provides a lovely screen, but before long you also will realise that the destiny of mankind lies in Evil.
