When the anger subsided, and Kaye went to walk back home, she could not help but stare at the place where her finger used to be. She began to appreciate the extra space for the other fingers to use. Unfortunately for Kaye, she was so mesmerised by her finger (or lack thereof) that she tripped over a tree root, fell into the local river, and drowned.
