To Those Who Measure Conviction

It has been an enlightening exchange.
Nature extols endurance. Evil extols sacrifice. Each assures Sapience that its convictions are the truest, its burdens the greatest, and its purpose the purest.
How fortunate that Good was never so easily impressed.
Endurance alone is no virtue. Weeds endure.
Sacrifice alone is no virtue. Tyrants sacrifice countless lives in pursuit of ambition.
The question has never been whether one is willing to endure or sacrifice.
The question is: for whom?
The servant of Evil sacrifices others to exalt Evil.
The servant of Nature would surrender civilisation to preserve the wild.
The servant of the Light offers himself first.
His comfort, his safety, his blood, if necessary, so that another may live. Not for conquest. Not for ideology. Not because the outcome is inevitable, but because Creation is worth defending.
That is the distinction.
If your conviction is measured by what you demand others surrender, there are cities enough to welcome you.
If your conviction is measured by what you are willing to surrender so that others may flourish, then the Hearth has always stood ready.
Not because we claim the strongest convictions, but because Good is proven in service, not proclaimed in debate.
Forever in service to Them,
Adjutant Kaldrin, Arbiter of the Pact.
