To Dr. Laras Op'Shae,
And to other friends, those who feel a bit lost,
I've heard such similar things from a few of you this last year, and felt the same at times. Those displaced from the Vashnars, when their home swore itself to a slave-holding Tyrant. Those who love Nature, but who can't endure the many thorns of the modern-day village. Friends who left Hashan, recently or ages ago, when patience finally exhausted itself.
Lord Vastar has given us the answer. Embrace the storm. Do not fear the sound of thunder. Let the fierce winds of life sweep away whatever is holding you back. Call on the heat of lightning to cauterize old wounds, so that you can move forward and upward.
Dr. Op'Shae, you write, "Anger seems so likely to flow into anything, at any time, nowadays, I feel?"
A few years ago I grappled with this in myself. The answer is ambition. Ambition is the vessel that gives shape to our fury. If your anger overflows, if it spills back onto yourself and your friends, look to your ambitions. Perhaps the scope of them is not sufficient? Remember your goals, and let them orient you even in a howling gale. Don't let the noise drown out your reasons for waking.
Change is necessary. If the state of the world doesn't fill you with fury, open your eyes. To yearn for the past is to overlook the failings that brought us here; look instead toward the future. Place your memories in journals where they belong, and then leave them beneath you. Cling only to your convictions. If it isn't a belief worth fighting for, then it's simply weighing you down.
If your ambitions are worthy and your convictions secure, no matter where the winds take you the path forward will be clear.
All glory to the infinite Sky,
