The Future

Hail, people of Sapience.

I come to you all as a representative of His Excellency, Lord Adryn. Earlier this month, the Lord consulted, as wise leaders often do, with an oracle regarding the future of his lands and people. This oracle, vile and accursed, proclaimed only hyperbolic prophecies of doom and ruin and destruction, and was thus executed for disrespect and charlatanry.

Be that as it may, the Lord Adryn is gifted with exceptional wisdom and fairness, and thus thought over the following days that there was a chance, however small, of some of the oracle's predictions being true. Not one to be blinded by pride, he thus puts out a call:

All peoples learned and skilled in augury, haruspicy, witchery, astrology, prognostication, soothsaying, presaging, ornithomancy, extispicy, foretelling, omen-reading, cartomancy, et cetera et cetera are to report to his Keep on the 14th of Glacian of this, the 980th year after the fall of Seleucar. Adventurers, commoners, nobility or even outcasts will be given a chance to prove their abilities. Food and drink will be provided.

Each fortune teller will be given a chance to demonstrate their abilities and guaranteed safety for their predictions so long as they are made in good faith. The Lord Adryn will select the most credible seer and reward them with a prize from his own treasury.

May the Keep stand forevermore.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Lupar, in the year 980 AF.
