Asterian Festival of History: Mayan 828AF

Hail, Sapience.

Welcome to the final month of the Asterian Festival of History.

Consult Public post #20714 for instructions on how to participate. Those who complete at least six months' worth of tasks and/or events will earn a truly unique historical memento; the more months you complete, the more intricate your reward.

Note: You are only required to complete either ONE task or attend ONE event per month to qualify, and you must note this in your journal. You can complete the tasks of previous months that you have missed as well - simply refer to the correct post.

Theme
------
This month is named after Lady Maya, the Great Mother and once the Creatrix. Mayan heralds the end of a year as well as the close of this Festival. Lady Maya's own tale came to an end after She returned the mantle of Creator to the Logos, and bestowed fragments of Her Divinity to adventurers to battle the forces of Bal'met. She has now departed to parts unknown to live out the remainder of Her life. Therefore, the theme of this month therefore is: endings.

Monthly Journal Task
---------------------
As brightly as the inhabitants of our world blaze when they live, so too are their deaths equally, if not more, memorable in our history.

Complete BOTH of the following tasks:

[Task 1] Climb down into the crater at the centre of the Mhojave Desert and enter the mirror at the bottom of the lake to experience the final moments of Ashaxei, the Mother of Dragons.

Write your thoughts about her demise in your journal.

[Task 2] Head in from the Shrine of Ascension to visit the memorial to the fallen Divine. Linger at the room spiralling into the earth until you have viewed the mosaic in its entirety, then leave a lit candle, flower, or some other token in the chamber dedicated to your god of choice. Plain candles may be purchased from Galia, the postal clerk in Delos.

Note in your journal:
- How this God or Goddess met Their end
- Why you have chosen Them
- What significance - if any - your token has to Them.

Information may be found in the Events news post or the tome "The Saga of Bal'met" in the various libraries, including the Restoration's own Ingram Cairo Memorial Library.

Events
-------
Emperor Nicator was such a legendary figure that when he finally passed on, his funeral was attended by different factions all over the world. This month, there will be a reenactment of that poignant moment as the world bid farewell to perhaps the greatest ruler in our history.

After 12 long months, the Asterian Festival of History draws to an end. A closing ceremony will be held in the Asterian Restoration.

Exhibitions
------------
The second Crafters' Fair remains at the convention grounds of the Asterian Restoration, featuring an enormous variety of crafted goods for sale from all over Sapience. Head north and northeast from the Aster Crossroads to find it.

The featured item in the austere gallery at the Asterian Restoration is the Weaver's Beard, a fern created by Lady Maya when Clementius, the Weaver, departed Sapience.

The travelling merchant continues to wander the Asterian Restoration grounds.

The Grand Obsidian Tower in the south of Nimick, an extensive adventurer-run museum with hundreds of relics, remains open for public visits.

Special Notes
--------------
There will be a submissions box at the Ingram Cairo Memorial Library in the Asterian Restoration from mid-Mayan onwards, where you should submit your journal. You will have until the end of Daedalan 829AF to do so, and the portal to the Asterian Restoration will remain open at Thera until then. After this deadline, no submissions will be entertained.

For each month, you should list at least ONE event AND/OR ONE task that you completed. You can, of course, complete more. If you attended an event, write down that you attended it, as well as your thoughts on it. I do have a list of attendees of events and will not appreciate dishonest attempts to claim attendance.

The reward for completing at least six (6) months' worth of tasks or attending events is a stained glass lantern featuring historical scenes. This is now displayed at a serene gazebo in the Asterian Restoration, and you are welcome to view it. The more complete your journal, the more scenes your lantern will feature, up to a maximum of six.

Any questions may be directed to myself. Enjoy the last month of the Festival.
