Hail, Sapience.

Welcome to the fifth month of the Asterian Festival of History.

Consult Public post #20714 for instructions on how to participate. Those who complete at least six months' worth of tasks and/or events will earn a truly unique historical memento; the more months you complete, the more intricate your reward.

Note: You are only required to complete either ONE task or attend ONE event per month to qualify, and you must note this in your journal. You can complete the tasks of previous months that you have missed as well - simply refer to the correct post.

Theme
------
The month of Scarlattan is named after Lord Scarlatti, the Great Bard. Art has always been instrumental to the preservation of history: first through artwork, then storytelling, and finally the written word. Therefore, the theme of this month is: art.

Monthly Journal Task
---------------------
Storytelling was one of the main methods of preserving traditions and legends. The word 'history' itself, after all, is derived from 'his story'. Many denizens around the realms have informative and intriguing tales to tell that can teach a curious student a great deal about the local lore.

[Task] Convince two of the following denizens to tell you their stories:

- Greybeard, an aged pirate (Mysia)
- Any inhabitant of Bagwar’s Copse
- Lyaeus, the travelling bard (travels between inns and taverns)
- Faiza, the Flowing Robes Champion (Sangre Plains)
- Theralan, a jovial druid (Sparrow's Rest)
- Ciglo, the historian (Judgement Mountain)
- Aynteshi, a tash’la teacher (Qerstead)

You may need to complete certain tasks or quests, offer bribes, or mention particular subjects relevant to them or their surroundings in order to hear their tales.

Summarise the stories that you heard in your journal, and which you believe most worth retelling - and why.

Events
-------
Bidding for artifacts in the Art and Artifacts auction continues. See AD 482 for the full details.

The 'Depicting the Past' art exhibition officially opens this month at the Anchors Acreage, located at the rock-strewn hillside in the western Shamtota Hills. You can also use the wormhole where Rufio stands in New Thera.

Within the gallery on the upper floor, you will be able to see exhibited historical-themed works from artists all over Sapience, as well as a showcase of artifacts currently being auctioned in AD 482. All artworks and artifacts will be auctioned off in Phaestian 828AF, so viewers and potential buyers should take the opportunity to examine them before they are placed in new homes.

The Cyrene Festival showcase also happens this month, featuring a reenactment of Cyrene's resistance against the Tsol'teth, a Cyrenian concert, and a crafting showcase in Caer Witrin.

Refer to AD 192 for dates and check UPCOMING as well.

Exhibitions
------------
The Grand Obsidian Tower in the south of Nimick, an extensive adventurer-run museum with hundreds of relics, remains open for public visits.

The featured item in the austere gallery at the Asterian Athenaeum is an intricately carved miniature harp, which displays the freeing of Borak, notorious guardian spirit of the Northen Sea, at Lady Pandora's hands when TOUCHed. You are highly encouraged to witness this.

The entire Asterian Athenaeum will also display denizen artwork from all across the realm this month. You are encouraged to explore the magical properties of the paintings created by Lindire in particular.

The travelling merchant continues to wander the Asterian Restoration grounds. You can travel there easily by TOUCHing the PORTAL at the town centre of New Thera. Ensure you are in perfect health.

Any questions may be directed to myself. Enjoy the Festival.
