Turtles Islands and Ambition

Hello,

The problem with ambition and geography is that mortals, upon seeing a land for the first time for themselves, often try to lay sovereignty or stake claim-a silly proposition.

Kuriel is correct that we did first see the island some months before Accipiter and Mercer, but it was clear that we were not the first there. Much like the first recent adventurers to traverse Meropis or many islands, the mass was new to us, but we were not the first, nor the owners. There were bones, destroyed hovels and even a giant buried shark's tooth that our own Penwize found.

We were quite wrapped up in summoning the Primordial Kraken and decided to leave Penwize around to do further research. We surmised some time ago that it had moved as we'd seen the fog before near Shala-Khulia (without encountering the island). The island does seem to travel with the fog.

The most pertinent questions to answer, I believe are: "Why does it move?" and "Is it even an island?"

I posit there are two likely possibilities:

1. It is a quantum-paradoxical island which moves at random. Given that Erymanthus floats, but is stationary, we cannot rule out this possibility. If it exists in a paradoxical limbo, it would be, in my opinion a clear working of Chaos within the purview and sovereignty of the Court of Chaos.

2. It is not terra firma at all! It is actually a living, breathing creature which lives in the sea and has had the misfortune of settlers atop its top (possibly its back as we know it). The fog may be a mystical cloaking, but is much more likely an expulsion of a large creature with a large appetite. Given the shape, firmness and flatness of the mass. Some claim it may even be a giant sea-turtle. Some of our crew prefer using a colloquial name for the mass- "Turtle Fart Island."

I view and hope that the second is the more likely probability because it is awesome.

If those explorers of the more recent vintage earn naming rights by being first upon the mass. I shall be certain to give it a similarly appropriate and affectionate name upon discovering its true nature.

All the Best,
