A (Very) Brief History of Chaos Theory

Lately I've been learning a lot about Chaos, and I thought it a good time to share some of what I've learned. To be honest, I'd like to use this as a foundation for deeper explorations of Chaos. I intend to share those further explorations through a mix of discussions, lectures, illusionary presentations, and possibly more news posts. Historically speaking, there are three main schools of Chaos, stemming from the primary teachers of Chaos.

The first of these is Lord Babel, created at the end of the Chaos War to stand as a shield between the Chaos Realm and the rest of Creation. This had the side effect of seemingly driving Lord Babel mad, though he has said since that only by staring into the Void can one truly understand the future. Generally speaking, Lord Babel's views on Chaos are held pretty tight so it's hard to expand much on them. He does seem to view Chaos more as a means to accomplish his ends as opposed to an end in itself though.

The second is Imperator Glaaki, the leader of the Chaos Lords. Glaaki has declared that the workings of Chaos are as follows:

To make war
To overthrow
To enact paradox
To unloose
To renounce all meaning

It is his intention to remake Creation into a 'vast Chaotic paradise'. This comes across as the tearing down of all things so that Glaaki can create his own version of what reality should be.

Lastly, but certainly not least, is Lady Eris. Lady Eris was created by the merging of the Unnamable Horror and an Occultist named Servelan de Vermiis. Lady Eris described Chaos as being a very foundational energy of Creation, used to introduce randomness, creativity, and a spark of unpredictability into what would have otherwise been a dull, uniform existence.

While it would at first appear that there are many kinds of Chaos, Lady Eris once said that there is only one Chaos, though different beings may understand different pieces of it. While Lord Babel and Glaaki are beyond proficient at wielding Chaos to accomplish their goals, I believe that Lady Eris has the fullest understanding of Chaos itself, as she focused more on the energy itself than on what it could do for her.

In future studies, I will be focusing on Chaos itself, how we can perceive Chaos, and how we can interact with Chaos to further our knowledge of this foundational energy. If you would like to join me in these studies or want to know more, feel free to contact me or keep an eye out for further discussions.
