To people and non-people, animal kingdom, and everything else that won't fit into this brief and equally ridiculous missive,

Many years ago I had a pet rock, his name was Foofoo. He, or she - we still don't know which gender it was so I decided it's a boy and for the sake of personification-, always had a smile drawn on his face. Rainy or sunny days, whether pigs flew or donkeys barked, or whether or not a kelpie looked at its shadow and decided that it's going to be a looooong night, he always smiled. Indeed, my palm-sized, and smooth, friend always smiled. We talked for many days and nights, he was a very good listener and has never interrupted me, always looked at me with that smile and his big eyes.

One day, we went to the pier. It was a beautiful day- as any day when a dark turn of events occur. The sun was shining, and we sat down. Foofoo was so rocky and smooth, so looking out to the lake we decided to play skipping stones across the water. I was so focused on the task at hand so after round one when I looked down, Foofoo was gone. He simply vanished. I have shouted across the lake calling out his name and when he hasn't responded, I shouted at the skies to the Gods hoping They bring him on a silver platter back to me, dead or alive. Yet none responded.

Heartbroken, I left the pier to never return to the scene of crime. Decades gone by, yet not a word from Foofoo. He probably has many mini Foofoos running around by now. I will never know.

This has brought to you by series of unfortunate and totally bored, attention seeking public news.
