Betrayal and potential

Cyrenians:
How symbolically appropriate that Cyrene bears witness to the demise of the Academie and the House of Ty Beirdd shortly after your feckless Imperiate's proclamation of support for Nature and Eleusis. The Ashtani Triak is right - this saga of events represents a grievous betrayal of ideals. But I am relatively unconcerned with the typical dearth of ideological strength demonstrated by an ancient and addled Speaker who has long outlived her usefulness atop the Great Oak. Far more importantly, with his latest act Verrucht has demonstrated just how shallow a once-great city like Cyrene's appreciation of culture and civilization runs.
You have embraced the barbarism and savagery of the Ithmian brutes. So be it. Any Sapients with their wits about them already knew that Mhaldor has long been the continent's unchallenged capital of culture, art, and intellectualism. Those of you who support Verrucht's decision to fight for Nature, a cause fundamentally opposed to everything your Patron - Lord Phaestus, God of Industry - stands for, I say to you: go and pick up your new friends' sticks and rocks. Use them in defense of larger sticks and prettier rocks. These are the only fitting toys for those men who foolishly shun greatness.
To those of you who understand your own potential and the potential of this world, as well as the work necessary for either to be realized, seek me out. Together, we will humbly travel the path of self-improvement, and in doing so reshape the earth itself, build empires and become legends.
[By way of signature, a drawing of a silver-tongued death adder adorns the bottom of this parchment. In the bottom right-hand corner of the elaborate sketch are the initials ?F.M.? written in miniature in a beautiful script.]
Penned by my hand on the 21st of Valnuary, in the year 657 AF.
