FISH SLAPPING CONTEST! CREDIT PRIZES!

Greetings in the Name of the Great Fish! May his gills ever flap!

From now until the end of 599 the Society of the Great Fish is
sponsoring a fish-slapping contest, with a 5 credit prize for the most
creative fish-slap and reaction.

Fish-slapping (or surprising someone by slapping them in the face with a
wet fish) has a rich and exciting history that we wish to revive in the
realm.

At one time it was not at all uncommon for people to encourage their
leaders to excel using a good fish-slapping. Lovers would often express
their commitment to each other this way and it is always a good way to
make new friends or greet an old one.

In darker times it was used to train soldiers and improve alertness and
reaction time. secreat societies at one time took on contracts to
fish-slap unpopular political figures.

In some grook villages to this day it is considered good luck to
fish-slap someone ont thier name day, wedding day or on their being
promoted. It is very good luck to Fish-slap somone whose name contains
all of the letters in Fish-slap. In Grook that is spelt Parh-Kcalb

The polite response on being fish-slapped is to immediately make a
fish-face. This avoids a second well intentioned Fish-slapping and is
akin to yielding to the fish-slapper. A return Fish-slap is also
acceptable and encoraged way to defend yourself.

So enjoy yourself and have fun celbrating the custom of fish-slapping.

To be considered for the prizes for best fish-slap and reaction send a
log or account of your fish-slap by letter to Hassan before the end of
599. Submissions will be judged on surprise, creativity, and reaction of
the slapee!

May your gills never dry out! And your bait bucket stay full!

Penned by my hand on the 20th of Sarapin, in the year 598 AF.
