Truth be told, after seeing your name, I didn't bother to read your post
because I figured it wouldn't be any where near as interesting as the
things you say behind people's backs - especially those who think of you
as an ally like the Caliph probably does. Anyways, I took the liberty to
transcribe a conversation I overheard. Initially I was going to keep
this for a rainy day but I figure now is as good a time as any.
Celestine: "What did Father Bahtell speak with you about, regarding
her?"
Jovaras: "Typically yes."
Milabar:"Bahtell has not made a decision on Elphaba yet."
Milabar:"At least not to my knowledge."
Jovaras: "What was to be decided?"
Milabar:"Elphaba is to be removed from having any protection from
Shallam, for theft from a devotionist."
Jovaras: "Sounds reasonable."
Jovaras: "I'd be willing to bet though..."
Milabar:"Then bluntly and blantly lying about it when it was given fact
that it did it."
Jovaras: "That she's being protected by someone in particular."
Jovaras: "Who is interested in her specific brand of talents."
Milabar:"I'm fairly sure I have more swing in the Citadel that whomever
it is, if I wish to use all of it at once."
Jovaras: "I wouldn't if I were you."
Jovaras: "Not for a relatively small fry."
Jovaras: "I've been relatively dormant here lately, but I've come back
to find it exactly as I left it seems."
Milabar:"Except more people left, and fewer people of quality remain."
Jovaras: "Indeed."
Milabar:"Beatrice and Bahtell are trying to use the legacy I built in
the Mitrans, but they are so splintered, and after my..demotion, there
is nothing I can do."
Jovaras: "I'm going to attempt to change that with whatever power I have
left."
Jovaras: "Which is very little mind you."
Milabar:"You could always run naked through town, throwing papers out
around you as you scream, the end is coming, the end is coming?"
Milabar:"It works about as well as any other idea I know of."
Jovaras: "It would be about as effective."
Milabar:"You would draw bigger crowds, mostly females."
Milabar:"Less stubborn in their ways, don't ya know, then poor old men."
Milabar:"And if you convert the woman, the man is sure to follow!"
Jovaras: "I'd rather do it the way I've always done it."
Milabar:"So...naked in town."
You hear action: Radiant Handler, Havyn Shu'in-Crescent says in a
silvery voice, "Walked in on the wrong part of that conversation."
Milabar:"We're discussing conversion tactics."
Jovaras: "Milabar, barring all order relations, what do you think of
Bahtell?"
Milabar:"Young, indecisive, uncertain, and out of his league as both Vox
Solis and Caliph. I respect his ideals and commitment, but he is over
his head is my belief, honestly."
You hear action: Radiant Handler, Havyn Shu'in-Crescent says in a
silvery voice, "What is Vox Solis?"
Jovaras: "I remember half of those comments about me."
Jovaras: "Specifically about Caliph."
Milabar:"Voice and Leader of the Order of Mithraea."
Milabar:"He shows a shrewd grasp on some aspects, but utterly naive on
others."
Milabar:"Such as Saria's subtle control she had for a long time, and the
Citadel's constant politics, though he might keep those going just to
keep them from looking at him."
Jovaras: "Possibly."
Milabar:"His time as Empyreal Patriarch came crashing down because of
his own ignorance and inabilities to delegate, and I feel he has over
corrected that by delegating to much."
Milabar:"Otherwise, Bahtell is a Mitran, and he, like many newer
Mitrans, have no idea at all what that means."
Milabar:"That is my thoughts on Bahtell, why?"
Jovaras: "I was curious I still respect your opinion."
Jovaras: "Much as I did in the past."
Milabar:"I am not one that bullshits around, though I usually say things
more dipolmatically. But all the same, it is not Bahtell that is the
issue."
Milabar:"Is the the splinter factions still trying to dominate upon
their own way of what is Good."
Milabar:"Even the Orders, except Mithraea's and Lorielan's since they
are gone, are trying to embolden their own ideas upon it."
--- I was interrupted here, so the next bit doesn't exactly flow. ---
Milabar:"Hey, I'd have traded you. I'll take Caliph during that time,
you take being the Hashani Mitran devotionist, deal?"
Jovaras: "No thank you."
Jovaras: "I'd rather have nothing to do with Hashan thank you very
much."
Milabar:"Aww, they are not so bad, just like little spiders crawling
down the back of your neck."
Jovaras: "Only a mild poison too."
Jovaras: "It mostly just irritates."
Milabar:"Like a rash, a very dark, dark rash."
Jovaras: "I was naive back thenm."
Jovaras: "I thought I could control the wild animals."
Milabar:"You can't control something that will chew it's own leash just
to do what it wants."
Jovaras: "Indeed."
