The invective of Silas Maynard

There is nothing more agonising than to be assaulted by a bright light
gleaming through the window the morning after a binge. Thus, one can
imagine my dismay when I awoke to discover the worldwide news rife with
the vainglorious posturing of a champion thereof. I will not waste my
time and gold attempting to penetrate the thick skull of a troll, but
will instead leave some food for thought for those races gifted with the
intellect to digest it.
Succeeding existence itself, the paramount gift of the Creator is the
mortal soul. The soul has been imbued with the freedom of will that
allows each being the means to follow the path of his choice. This
aspect of mortality is so precious--so intrinsic to the concept of
life--that it inspired one God to bow before Another in order to secure
it for His children. Yet despite the value of free will, it is something
that mortalkind takes for granted. We wallow in our ignorance, lacking
the fortitude to construct independent convictions, forever gravitating
toward those whose charisma holds promises of succor. Thus, the words of
our leaders become manacles into which each of us willingly places his
wrists, and through this obedience, mortalkind is allegedly granted
purpose.
Perhaps the purpose of existence is not to adhere to a standard of
morality, but rather, to challenge the very foundation of that mortal
ethos so that we might fully enjoy the life that the Logos has
bestowed--for as long as He has willed it to last. It was by His hand
that Lord Babel was created; in that act, the moribund state of Creation
was undeniably acknowledged. To hinder the course of the events set into
motion by that act is not an example of how you, Silas Maynard, value
the gift of the Creator--if anything, you have contemptuously cast aside
that gift as you demand that He grant you something more. It is nothing
short of blasphemy.
While I am sure that Silas, among others, will contrive a number of
invidious ripostes, I will not deign to respond to fatuous accusations
or claims regarding my ineffective leadership. I will close by reminding
the East and its allies that the Bastion of the North is a city steeped
in Freedom, a principle which the Cult of Babel and the Great House of
the Occultists both hold dear. We will never allow Ashtan to fall into
gilded shambles, plagued by a waffling population too timorous to defend
their creed. Where the Light would hinder its followers that they cannot
see, the priests of Oblivion have brought a third eye. Those with the
mettle to transcend the legerdemain of the Te'Serra are welcome to seek
me out.
Sincerely,
Amunet Viatrix
